Alistair Sayer

Client Portfolio Manager

Alistair Sayer is a Client Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors. Alistair joined Henderson in 2005 as an investment director for multi-strategy equities and has served as investment director for global and international equities as well. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for JCF and JCTML funds. Prior to Henderson, he was with J.P. Morgan Asset Management for 10 years, first as a performance analyst and later as a client portfolio manager for global equities. His career started in 1991 as a trainee actuary for Provident Mutual Life Assurance Association.

Alistair graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in mathematics from Plymouth University. He has 26 years of financial industry experience.

 

 

Ben Wallace

Portfolio Manager

Ben Wallace is a Portfolio Manager of UK equities at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held since joining Henderson in 2011 as part of the Gartmore acquisition. Prior to that, he was a senior investment manager at Gartmore. Before coming to Gartmore in 2002, he worked at Deutsche Asset Management, where he managed UK equity funds from 1997 to 2002.

Ben graduated with a BCom degree (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh. He has 24 years of financial industry experience.

David Elms

Head of Diversified Alternatives | Portfolio Manager

David Elms is Head of Diversified Alternatives and a Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors responsible for enhanced index, risk premia, and hedge portfolios. Prior to joining Henderson in 2002, he spent eight years as a founding partner at Portfolio Partners. He was initially based in Melbourne, where he managed derivatives and enhanced index portfolios, and was later seconded to Aviva in London in a corporate strategy role following Aviva’s acquisition of Portfolio Partners. Earlier, he spent three years as associate director at County NatWest Investment Management, Melbourne, where he was responsible for equities and equity derivative trading as well as quantitative research.

David received a BCom degree (Hons) from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has 30 years of financial industry experience.

 

 

Steve Cain

Steve Cain

Portfolio Manager

Steve Cain is a Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held since joining Henderson in 2010. Prior to Henderson, Steve ran Kurtosis Capital Partners. He was a partner as well as a volatility and macro portfolio manager at JWM Partners from 2006 to 2009. From 2004 to 2006, he was founding partner and currency and macro portfolio manager at Nylon Capital. In 2002, he was managing director, head of macro strategies at Shumway Capital Partners. Steve started his career in 1987 in investment banking. Between 1987 and 2002, he held a variety of roles managing currency and emerging market businesses at numerous global investment banks.

Steve received a BA degree (Hons) in philosophy, politics, and economics from Oxford University. He has 34 years of financial industry experience.

 

 

James de Bunsen, CFA

Portfolio Manager

James de Bunsen is a Portfolio Manager on Janus Henderson Investors’ UK-based Multi-Asset Team, a position he has held since joining Henderson in 2013. In this role, James focuses on alternative asset classes and strategies. Prior to Henderson, he worked for multi-asset boutique Armstrong Investment Managers (AIM) from 2010, where he helped run a number of multi-asset strategies targeting real returns above inflation within clearly defined risk budgets. Before that, he spent five years at Insight Investment as part of the same multi-asset team that launched the first retail multi-asset fund in the UK and later formed AIM. At both Insight and AIM, this team won several performance awards from FT Pension & Investment, HFM Europe, and BarclayHedge, among others. Earlier in his career, he spent several years working as a journalist and editor at a variety of business magazines.

James received a degree in ancient history and archaeology from the University of Manchester. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has 16 of financial industry experience.

 

 

Julius Bird, CAIA

Director, Product Specialist

Julius Bird is Director, Product Specialist at Janus Henderson Investors responsible for alternative and multi-asset strategies. Prior to joining Henderson in 2014, he worked in marketing at Hermes Fund Managers and Pictet Asset Management from 2011. Julius began his career at Fidelity International in 2006.

Julius earned an MA in geography from the University of Edinburgh. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation and has 15 years of financial industry experience.

Luke Newman

Portfolio Manager

Luke Newman is a Portfolio Manager of UK equities at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held since he joined Henderson in 2011 as part of the Gartmore acquisition. From 2009 to 2011, Luke worked at Gartmore as co-manager on a number of funds. Prior to this, he was a portfolio manager at Altima Partners LLP from 2008 and F&C Asset Management from 2005. He began his career in 2000 with Deutsche Asset Management running high performance retail and institutional mandates.

Luke graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in economics and politics from the University of Warwick. He has 21 years of financial industry experience.

Robert Schramm-Fuchs

Portfolio Manager

Robert Schramm-Fuchs is a Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors responsible for co-managing the Europe Large Cap Long/Short, Concentrated Pan Europe Equity, and European Focus strategies. Robert joined Henderson in 2014 as a European equity analyst. Prior to Henderson, he was with Macquarie’s global alternative energy and utilities research team from 2010. Before this, he was head of the renewables research team at Commerzbank based in Frankfurt. He also worked with BHF Bank and Independent Research covering the solar sector for nine years.

Robert received a diploma in international management from Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena. He has 16 years of financial industry experience.

Client Portfolio Manager

Richard Brown is a Client Portfolio Manager of European equities at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held since 2015. Richard joined Henderson in 2007 as a product specialist and began working on the Pan-European equities team as an investment specialist in 2009.

Richard graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in mathematics with management studies from Sussex University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and the Investment Management Certificate (IMC). Richard has 14 years of financial industry experience.

 

 

John Pattullo

Steve Johnstone, CFA

Portfolio Manager

Steve Johnstone is a Portfolio Manager at Janus Henderson Investors responsible for the top-down overlay and quantitative risk control of the strategies he manages. Prior to this, Steve was a quantitative risk analyst at Gartmore Investment Management until Henderson’s acquisition of Gartmore in 2011. He joined Gartmore in 2000, where he primarily focused on their market-neutral long/short equity funds before moving to the investment risk team. Earlier, he held contract positions at Merrill Lynch, Panmure Gordon, Industrial Bank of Japan, and Baring Asset Management.

Steve graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in natural sciences from Open University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 30 years of financial industry experience.
